Bonnie Bailey grew up in Glen Cove, Long Island, New York. She caught the singing bug when she was four. By 16, she wrote her first handful of songs and brought them to Cove City Sound Studio. There she met Grammy Award-winning producer Ric Wake. Impressed by her ambition and voice, he decided he would take her under his wing and guide her. Bonnie's first album, St Marks Place, was her alter
native-rock baby, influenced by Hole, Pixies, Ani Difranco, PJ Harvey, and Nirvana. Her first gig was on the Intrepid for Fleet Week, opening for Joan Jett in front of 14,000 sailors. Bonnie performed in most New York clubs such as The Bitter End, Mercury Lounge, and the Elbow Room.
As time progressed, Bonnie's personal style of music evolved. With this evolution she needed a new music partner and producer. She found herself back at Cove City Recording studio seeking suggestions. Bonnie was then introduced to producer-remixer Eric Kupper. Together they recorded an album and, after submitting a track for a Hed Kandi compilation, Mark Doyle signed Bonnie to Hed Kandi.
In 2005, Bonnie had her first top 40 Billboard hit in the UK with the dance song "Everywhere." The music video went to number one on the MTV dance charts and reached number seven for the years’ countdown in DJ magazine. She toured the UK and Spain, performing in venues such as El Divino, Ibiza, and Pacha, London. From 2003 to 2005, Bonnie made many appearances on Hed Kandi compilations, including the global house hit "Ever After" from the album Hed Kandi: Beach House 04.04. She can also be found on *69 "Cafeteria" a compilation put out by Peter Rauhofer and Stonebridge’s Smash Album.
